Russia announced an important scientific breakthrough in the tissue paper industry through TASS.
Due to the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, in April 2022, Swedish hygiene product manufacturer Essity decided to withdraw from Russia after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, making it impossible for Russians to obtain Libero diapers, Libress sanitary napkins and Zewa toilet paper (the only brand with a flushable toilet paper core). At the same time, Johnson & Johnson also suspended the supply of personal hygiene products in Russia.
After two years of intensive research and development, Alkhbom Tissue Group has produced Russia's first flushable toilet paper roll, Russian state news agency TASS reported on Thursday.
In June 2023, Russia's Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mikhail Yulin announced at the St. Petersburg Economic Forum that the production problems of flushable toilet paper rolls were being solved, highlighting the impact of the lack of flushable toilet paper rolls on the population.
The company's press service provided more technical information about the new product. The raw materials for production mainly come from bleached mixed softwood and hardwood pulp produced by the Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill.
For Russians, the days of discarding the center of toilet paper in the trash or recycling bin will soon be over.
